The contribution of PT Kemitraan MNK BME’s blasting solutions to driving efficiency and safety across the Indonesian mining industry was recognised at the prestigious Indonesia Mining Services Awards held recently in Bali.
PT Kemitraan MNK BME, a joint venture of Indonesian market leader PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia and South Africa-based global player BME, won the Silver Award in the Blasting Services category.
Organised by the Indonesian Mining Services Association and Tambang magazine, the awards recognise suppliers of mining and services who drive best practice and sustainability in mining. In line with this focus, the theme for the awards was “Collaboration for a Sustainable Future of the Mining Industry.”
Accepting the award at the annual Indonesian Mining Services Meeting in May, Agusman, the director of PT Kemitraan MNK BME, said that PT Kemitraan MNK BME was a good example of a collaboration that was benefiting the Indonesian mining industry.
“By leveraging BME’s state-of-the-art technology and MNK’s extensive local networks, experience and resources, we can deliver unparalleled blasting services and technical support,” Agusman said. “This is driving efficiency and safety across a significant number of projects throughout Indonesia.”
He added that this achievement also showcased the close collaboration between the company’s diligent field and visionary planning teams.
“In this way, we can ensure that every blasting project is executed with precision to minimise risk and maximise results – while also aligning with the mining industry’s sustainability goals,” he said.
Agusman said that this focus underpinned the company’s standing as a trusted supplier of innovative blasting solutions in the Indonesian mining industry, a major global player and a significant contributor to the country’s economy.
“We remain committed to the highest safety standards, continuous improvement in operational efficiency,” he concluded. “We also apply cutting-edge blasting technologies and methods to the benefit of Indonesian mining now and into the future.”
Furthermore, in reinforcing this commitment, safety specialists at PT Kemitraan MNK BME gathered earlier this year to reinforce their shared commitment to zero harm in mining – with a four-day workshop in Jakarta, Indonesia, bringing together colleagues from both corporate and site operations.
According to Dr. Ramesh Dhoorgapersadh, general manager of Global Operational Excellence and Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality (SHERQ) at BME, the workshop fostered a unified, proactive and collaborative SHERQ culture across all PT Kemitraan MNK BME sites.
“We brought together all our experts and professionals to ensure a shared understanding of process safety management, enhancing our strong foundation for continuous improvement and sustainable growth,” said Dhoorgapersadh.
The workshop was officially opened by Bayu Andhikajaya, president director of PT Kemitraan MNK BME, and led by the company’s SHERQ Manager Andika Putra. The sessions allowed valuable insights to be shared by Dhoorgapersadh, as well as BME General Manager for Human Resources Kasturi Adari, BME Engineering Manager (Production & Logistics) Dewald Thuynsma, and BME Process Safety & Compliance Specialist Shivashkar Suthan.
“These events are important to strengthen our safety culture that prioritises proactive risk management and adherence to SHERQ standards – to ensure long-term sustainability of PT Kemitraan MNK BME’s operations,” said Dhoorgapersadh.
